About Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps restore motion and function through manual therapy, movement and exercise. Treatments can begin even immediately after injury to repair damaged tissue and limit the loss of mobility. Physiotherapy is also perfect for strengthening work after a muscular or joint injury, which is an important part of the rehabilitation process.

Treatment will involve a variety of soft tissue techniques, possibly using ART or Graston techniques.

You will be given aftercare advice, which may involve ice/heat, stretching, Kinesio taping or strengthening. Further treatment options will then be discussed with you and a follow-up treatment arranged.

About Sports Massage

Jackie Richards and Helena Weaver have worked in Solihull for more 25 years. With a wealth of experience, they can help you get back to your best.

Deep tissue massage is designed to treat the soft tissues of the body including muscles and connective tissue (ligaments and tendons). Using such techniques as trigger point therapy, where pressure is applied to increase blood flow to the injury to reduce pain and inflammation. If involved in heavy training for sports, regular deep tissue massage can be a form of injury prevention. Soft tissue massage is also a useful part of the rehabilitation treatment process. Massage therapists treat the following conditions:

  • Muscle tension
  • Muscle tear
  • Muscle strains
  • Piriformis Syndrome
  • Ligament injuries
  • Tendon strain
  • Arthritis
  • IT Band irritation

At your initial consultation, it is determined the type of massage that would suit you.

Sports massage: a great way of identifying any muscle groups that may be over or underworked which in turn could lead to compensation patterns in the rest of the body. The advice can also be given on strengthening and stretching techniques

Remedial massage: an ideal relaxation treatment for busy people. It is a deep therapeutic massage with mobilization aimed to coax tension from muscles and ease stiff joints.

About Craniosacral therapy

Helena Weaver, a Sacral Therapist working in Solihull for over 15 years

Craniosacral therapy is in the treatment of babies and children who have suffered cranial distortion before, during or soon after birth. Even natural, problem-free births can cause an imbalance in a baby’s system. This treatment is gentle, enjoyable for parents and baby and is free from risk and side effects.

Craniosacral therapy involves gentle pressure for diagnosis and treatment. It identifies subtle disturbances to body tissues and fluids. Helena will discuss what your recommended treatment programme will involve after your initial consultation as care is on a case by case basis.

We recommend all babies receive a check-up, however, common symptoms include a  baby crying too much, refusing food, stiff and difficult to handle, sleeping problems,  swallowing difficulties, or other development issues.

All such children may well benefit from a visit to a craniosacral therapist. Older children who get ‘worked up’ over tests may also benefit from craniosacral therapy to help them to relax and sleep. Craniosacral therapy may be of benefit for the following symptoms:

  • Excessive crying
  • Irritability and/or wakefulness
  • Difficulty with suckling or wants to suck constantly
  • Colic and other digestive problems
  • Glue ear
  • Hyperactivity
  • Recurrent ear infections
  • Persistent coughs and cold/respiratory problems
  • Headbanging
  • Constant rocking
  • Sensitivity around the head – not liking the head touched or hair
